The Sejmik (local assembly) of the Śląskie Voivodeship adopted, by means of resolution No. III/47/1/2010 of 17 February 2010, the ‘Śląskie 2020' Śląskie Voivodeship Development Strategy, which is an update of the 2000-2020 Śląskie Voivodeship Development Strategy adopted by the Sejmik on 4 July 2005.

Śląskie Voivodeship is situated in the southern part of Poland.

The Partnership Regions of the Śląskie Voivodeship

One of the fields that differentiates the Śląskie Voivodeship, not only in Poland but also worldwide, is medicine, cardiosurgery and oncology in particular.

Currently there are 5,359 state and non-state schools and educational institutions operating in the Silesian Voivodeship.

Since 1 January, 1999, the territorial division binding in Poland comprises a borough, a poviat and a voivodeship. These communes are three independent levels of the self-government.
